What I'm Reading.
I think it is amazing how much I read, how fast I read, and how much I enjoy it. You see, I had a very difficult time learning how to read. But, thanks to a very special teacher in grade school - she made all of the difference in the world! And look at me now. Now, I absolutely love to read! Both of my parents can attest to this, step-parents included.
One of my fondest memories growing up is storytime with my sister. We would sit togther in bed, touching, and I would read to her. I felt it was my duty as the big sister to be the master storyteller. Absolute master. Believe it or not this was the one time that touching each other wasn't a problem. Funny, I know, but, oh so true. I had special voices, accents, the works!
Lately, I've been mixing things up. Subject matter. Authors. Content. Purpose. I've been stepping outside of my comfort zone and broadening my horizons.
What I've been reading lately...
For about 3-weeks now I've been reading a thriller by Mary Higgins Clark: The Shadow of Your Smile. And it has been quite a daunting task. It's too predictable. However, at this point, I am absolutely determined to finish it
Saturday morning, I took Rogue from my bookshelf to switch things up. I've read it several times and love it every time. Danielle Steel with a twist.
Yes, I caved... Saturday afternoon I bought Fifty Shades of Grey. I have several friends who highly recommended that I should them as well... This past Sunday I began Book 1 and by bedtime I was up to Chapter 10. Yowza, it is quite the read! I am loving every minute of it. Yes, it's a controversial series, yet, riveting, tabu...yet, I can't wait to see what happens next between Mr. Grey and Ms. Steele. Oh my!
This past weekend I grabbed the lastest copy of Writer's Digest magazine for the cover article: Publishing Today: what every writer needs to know.
And I can't forget my snazzy all-important books... For some very cool tips and tricks...The Writer's little Helper by James V. Smith, Jr. And last but not least - the all encompassing magic book to cure writers block or generate inspiration The Pocket Muse by Monica Wood.
So, what are you reading..? Do tell. I want the skinny, every last drop.
